Volunteer opportunities

You can make a difference in the lives of our patients by volunteering. There are a variety of locations and ways to volunteer with The University of Kansas Health System. Volunteer opportunities are available for:

  • High school students
  • College students
  • Adults

We have opportunities to volunteer at locations throughout the health system:

  • The campus at 39th Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard in Kansas City, Kansas, and many other locations in the Kansas City area
  • Great Bend Campus
  • Olathe Hospice House
  • Olathe Hospital
  • Paola Hospital

We provide flexible volunteer opportunities to meet your personal scheduling needs, but please know we value the opportunity to count you as a teammate. We appreciate volunteers who seek to join our community and of their time on an ongoing basis.

Adult volunteer opportunities

As a valued member of our team, you may work alongside highly trained healthcare professionals. To ensure your work is fulfilling and rewarding, we’ll do our best to match your skills and interests to the needs of our health system.

Student volunteer opportunities

We welcome students who wish to volunteer at the health system. Volunteer opportunities are available for students as young as 14. Many of our student opportunities are designed for high school and college students who are considering or pursuing a career in healthcare.

Student educational opportunities

Educational opportunities for students include the VolunTeen program in the Kansas City area, the BEAM Program for high school students in Olathe School District, the ELEVATE high school internship program and shadow experiences.
