Post Surgical Care
Post Surgical Care is an elective, one-month, learning experience that provides opportunity for the resident to gain the knowledge, skills, and values to provide pharmaceutical care to patients in the perioperative period. Emphasis will be placed on pain management, anticoagulation, SCIP measures, and post-operative complications.
The pharmacy resident is responsible for evaluating medication appropriateness, monitoring patients for drug therapy outcomes, managing drug therapy protocols, and providing drug information to the physicians, nurses, patients, and caregivers.

Ms. Meyer completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy in 1992 at the University of Kansas. She is a clinical/staff pharmacist at Olathe Medical Center and serves as the preceptor for the surgical rotation. Ms. Meyer has practiced in a variety of pharmacy settings including inpatient, retail, and nursing home consulting. She currently serves as the pharmacy representative on the Total Knee Arthroplasty/Total Hip Arthroplasty Committee and the SCIP Committee. She is immunization certified and a member of KCHP.
