Adult Hospice Volunteers

Hospice volunteers fulfill a variety of roles. We will match your role to your skills and interests to ensure that your donation of time and energy won’t be wasted.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Hospice House: Cover a weekly or bi-weekly shift of 3-4 hours. Weekday shifts are currently available! Two levels of volunteer services for you to choose from:
    • Front Desk – answer phones, greet visitors, light clerical duties
    • House Assistant – make coffee, cookies, and soup; tidy kitchen and common areas; and stock supplies
  • Office: Complete a variety of clerical tasks – copying, faxing, filing, auditing, and compiling packets.
    • Computer work is also available (this is optional and training is provided). Weekly shifts of 3-4 hours.
  • Spiritual Companion: Complete assessments and visits with a spiritual focus. Must have education in religion/theology (pastoral education certificate or more) or experience (Stephen Ministry volunteer, Bible study leader, church deacon, etc.) The level of commitment depends on your interest and availability. The schedule is flexible to your needs.
  • In-Home Companion/Caregiver Relief: Visit with patients in their homes – read to them and provide socialization. This allows the caregiver to leave the home to run errands. Shifts are flexible to your schedule, usually 3-4 hours per week.
  • Pet Therapy, Massage Therapy, Hair Stylist, Barber: Use your special skills and experience to create a unique volunteer role that suits your needs. Shifts can be flexible to accommodate your schedule.
  • Sewing/Crafts: Great for groups or individuals! Sewing skills are not required. Complete projects at your local group meetings, at our monthly sewing meetings, or in the comfort of your own home.
