OUR SPINE SURGEONS

Shyam M. Shridharani, MD, FAAOS.
Dr. Shridharani is a spine surgeon and has been Board Certified since 2011. He completed his surgical training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and University of California, San Diego. Prior to joining Olathe Health, Dr. Shridharani served as Chief of Spine Surgery for the University of Arizona and also served as Chief of Spine Surgery for Abrazo Health in Phoenix.

His areas of expertise include cervical (neck), thoracic (mid-back), and lumbar (low back) spinal disorders. Dr. Shridharani’s vast skill set includes minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal microsurgery, robotic spine surgery, conventional spine surgery, spinal instrumentation, spinal decompression, complex spine surgery, spine tumor/cancer surgery and spine trauma.

Dr. Shridharani practices team-based medicine, building collaborative relationships with patients and their support team.

Jason C. Eck, DO, MS  
Jason C. Eck, DO, MS, a Mayo Clinic-trained surgeon with Olathe Health Integrity Spine Surgery, is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Eck’s background in biomedical engineering brings a unique perspective to his work. In his practice, Dr. Eck addresses all aspects of spinal disorders – degenerative, tumors and deformities. Although he is always willing to take on more difficult surgical cases, Dr. Eck considers non-surgical options first. Outside of performing spine surgery, Dr. Eck has spent years in academia, publishing and presenting widely.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

Drs. Shridharani and Eck use a surgical robot that combines robotics and imaging navigation into one platform. It is designed to optimize patient care with improved accuracy, and enhanced safety and efficiency. They also uses a state-of-the-art surgical microscope and a robotic positioning system for precision in surgical treatment.

New | Olathe Medical Center is the only facility in the region with a new 3-in-1 robotic imaging platform for minimally invasive spine surgery. The imaging system is designed to enhance safety and accuracy during surgery. Seamlessly pairing with the existing robotic navigation system, the new technology uses real-time imaging during surgery to help surgeons determine the exact size and placement of hardware – all while exposing patients and staff to less radiation than traditional methods. By allowing a rigid robotic arm to work in an area smaller than the tip of a pencil with great precision through enhanced imaging, patients can receive highly individualized surgical care that results in smaller scars, less blood loss and fewer tissues damaged.
