Benefits and Rewards List
Paid Time Off (PTO) is a benefit provided to all full- and part-time employees so that they can enjoy time away from work for vacations, holidays and personal time. The rate at which employees accrue PTO increases the longer employees work for Olathe Health.
Wellness is an integral part of our culture at Olathe Health—both for employees and spouses. Employees and spouses enrolled in our medical plans can earn a premium differential each year by participating in our wellness programs, including health screenings, healthy living challenges, and online and in-person seminars, coaching and educational programs. In addition, our employees receive discounted YMCA memberships.

Sick leave is a benefit provided to all employees with a status of 40 or more hours per pay period. The sick-leave benefit may be used following completion of the 90-day introductory period.
Olathe Health is committed the ongoing education of our employees. We provide tuition reimbursement for employees with a minimum status of 48 hours per pay period after six months of employment. Assistance is available for approved college credit toward an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree or course work applicable to the non-physician-employee’s job.
Olathe Health provides medical insurance through Blue KC to all employees with a status of 60 or more hours per pay period and their eligible dependents. De-pendents meeting the eligibility requirements are covered through the end of the calendar year in which they turn 26. With two Blue Cross Blue Shield plans to choose from, as well as additional savings available when you receive care from Olathe Medical Center/Miami County Medical Center and hospital-owned physicians, we want to make healthcare affordable for our employees and their families.
Dental insurance is offered to all employees with a status of 60 or more hours per pay period. Coverage includes preventive care, basic and major dental services, including implants. An optional dental buy-up plan includes orthodondia services.
Vision coverage is offered to all employees with a status of 60 or more hours per pay period. Our plan includes eye exams, frame and lens allowances and contact lens coverage.
Olathe Health provides employees with a status of at least 40 hours per pay period fully paid group Basic Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance. Employees may elect to add supplemental life benefits for themselves and their dependents.
Eligible full-time employees at Olathe Health receive Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance. If an employee is unable to return to work after 180 days due to a long-term disability, the LTD plan provides a monthly percentage of salary (up to a maximum amount) at no cost to the employee. Employees may purchase an additional monthly benefit at a special group rate. A maximum monthly benefit applies, and a statement of health may apply.
All Olathe Health employees are eligible to contribute a percentage of their in-come to a 403(b) retirement plan. Contributions are automatically deducted, and Fidelity provides planning support, allowing you to put together a portfolio suited to your particular needs. Olathe Health provides a generous matching contribution. Employees may also choose to make contributions into a Roth 403(b) offering after-tax contributions and tax-free earnings distributions upon retirement.
Employees with a status of 60 or more hours per pay period pay contribute to medical and dependent/elder care spending accounts. The medical spending account allows you to use your pre-tax deductions to help pay for certain healthcare expenses like deductibles, copays and miscellaneous out-of-pocket medical expenses. A dependent care/elder care spending account lets you use pre-tax deductions for the cost of caring for your dependent children/elder while you are at work.

All Olathe Health employees have access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides confidential assistance with personal, family or work problems such as workplace conflicts, interpersonal difficulties, marriage and family concerns, stress management, emotional upsets, financial matters, and alcohol/drug problems. The EAP program helps connect employees with licensed professionals who provides diagnostic assessment and treatment referrals if needed.
Olathe Health employees enjoy a variety of other benefits, including a discount at our hospital cafeterias, bereavement leave, paid jury leave, notary service, free parking and discounts on cell phone plans, area attractions, wellness classes, YMCA memberships, employee referral bonuses and more.
Identity Theft Coverage
Employees may choose to purchase identity theft coverage with our group discount to protect their credit history, credit score and identity. The service provides comprehensive protection focused on prevention, detection and restoration.
Full-time and part-time employees may purchase pet insurance for their dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, reptiles and other exotic pets. Plans cover surgeries, lab fees, diagnostic tests, hospitalization, prescription drugs and more at veterinarian, specialists and emergency providers. Affordable wellness coverage can be added to any medical plan for an additional premium.
We partner with LegalShield to provide you access to quality legal services while protecting you from the high cost of legal fees. This is a voluntary plan that you may enroll in anytime throughout the year. When you use a plan attorney, you have unlimited telephone advice and office consultations on all personal legal matters, including consumer protection, family law, debt matters, immigration assistance, defense of civil lawsuits, traffic matters (except DUI), and wills and estate planning. Please note that the plan does not cover business and employment-related matters.
Hospital indemnity insurance is an optional benefit that provides financial assistance during hospital stays to help cover out-of-pocket-expenses health insurance doesn’t cover, for instance transportation, meals for family members, help with child care, or time away from work.
Whole Life Insurance
Whole life coverage options are available to employees, their spouses, children and grandchildren. Interest-sensitive whole life insurance is de-signed to provide death benefits to your beneficiaries if you pass away, but it can also build cash value that you can utilize while you are still liv-ing. The policy is owned by you, so you can keep your coverage even when you retire or change jobs. As long as the premium continues to be paid, your rate is guaranteed never to increase, and your benefits can never decrease.
Designed to supplement employer-sponsored health coverage, accident insurance pays specific benefit amounts for expenses resulting from non-work-related injuries or accidents. Hospitalization, physical therapy, intensive care, transportation, and lodging are some of the out-of-pocket expenses that this accident insurance could cover. You do not have to be enrolled in the employer-sponsored medical plan to enroll in this benefit. Coverage is available for employees, their spouses, and/or their children. An optional rider may be added, which provides additional coverage for hospital confinement due to a covered sickness.
Short Term Disability
This income protection policy can help replace a portion of the employee’s salary should they experience a disability. The plan pays monthly benefits in the event of sickness and
Critical Illness insurance can help supplement major medical coverage by helping employees pay the direct and indirect costs associated with a critical illness or event. Conditions covered under this program include cancer, heart attack, stroke, major organ transplant, kidney failure and paralysis (due to accident). The coverage also includes an annual health screening benefit. Benefits are paid tax-free in a lump sum to be used at the claimant’s discretion.
