Less Time Recovering. More Time For You.

The new robotic surgical system at Olathe Medical Center uses advanced technologies to assist surgeons with a less invasive surgical procedure. That means less time in the hospital and more time doing what you love.

What is Robotic Surgery?

The robotic surgical system is a tool that uses advanced, robotic, computer and optical technologies to assist your surgeon with your operation. The surgeon controls its movements.

The system has mechanical wrists that bend and rotate to mimic the movements of the human wrist – allowing the surgeon to make small, precise movements inside the body. The system has a 3D high definition vision system, special instruments and computer software that allow your surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control. The 3D-HD image is highly magnified, so your surgeon has a close-up view of the area he or she is operating on.

Surgeons at Olathe Medical Center are using the robotic system for general, urologic and gynecologic surgeries. Procedures include prostatectomies, hysterectomies and tubal reversals, among others. For more information, contact one of the clinics below.

What are the Benefits?

Studies of this type of procedure have shown the following benefits in comparison to open surgery:

  • A shorter hospital stay
  • Less blood loss
  • Fewer complications
  • Less need for narcotic pain medicine
