OLATHE, KAN. (Nov. 5, 2018) – The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) has chosen Olathe Health as a recipient of the 2018 CHIME Healthcare’s Most Wired Award. The award recognizes hospitals and health systems that are at the forefront of using healthcare IT to improve the delivery of care, have maximized benefits of foundational technologies, and are embracing new technologies.
Olathe Health recently integrated all business and clinical systems across the entire health network, a large technology modernization with Cerner designed to enhance the customer experience. The technology integrates the registration, scheduling and billing with the current electronic health records across both hospitals (Olathe Medical Center and Miami County Medical Center) and approximately 50 different Olathe Health locations. In addition, Olathe Health has invested in the latest technology for medical procedures to provide the best patient care, such as the linear accelerator for radiation therapies and a robotic surgical system for minimally invasive surgeries.
“Olathe Health set the vision of becoming one of the most wired hospitals in early 2015 as we embarked on IT infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity uplift, EMR optimization, clinical systems integration, and increasing technology adoption by end users to improve the quality and safety of patient care,” said Randy Rahman, Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “We are fortunate to have a workforce that is motivated to improve and move forward. This achievement is an end result of a strong strategic plan and multiples departments – IT, business and clinical – working together to support the hospital’s mission, vision and patient care goals.”
The Most Wired Award identifies those organizations developing best practices and promotes the strategic use of healthcare IT to elevate the healthcare of communities around the world.
