Brooke Browning is the May/June Outstanding Associate

Brooke Browning, a nurse in the Echocardiography Department at Miami County Medical Center, goes beyond her traditional role as a cardiopulmonary nurse. She recently took on additional responsibilities because it would help her patients.

As a way to help reduce readmission rates, Brooke has implemented discharge phone calls and weekly calls to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients. Her leaders credit her added duties to the reason her department has maintained low readmission scores and higher patient satisfaction rates.

“Brooke is an associate that every organization strives to hire and retain,” Steven Conover, MCMC Cardiopulmonary-Sleep Lab Supervisor, said. “She is well respected by her peers, knowledgeable in her job, helps others with extra duties as assigned and never complains. Her customer service skills are outstanding, and above all she is humble and mature.”

Brooke has been with MCMC for 16 years. She also serves on the Nurse Practice Committee and the Readmission Task Force Committee.

The Outstanding Associate award recognizes associates throughout our health network who are role models of the Olathe Health mission, help progress their departments and the whole organization, and provide exceptional experiences for patients and visitors. Six Outstanding Associates are chosen annually. One of these recipients is chosen by senior leadership for the prestigious Frank H. Devocelle Legacy Award.
