Olathe Health Recognized by Two National Organizations for Quality Measures and Patient Care

OLATHE, KAN. (April 28, 2021) – This week, Olathe Medical Center received recognition for its quality outcomes, patient experience, and other clinical measures from two different national organizations. Fortune/IBM Watson Health named Olathe Medical Center one of the 2021 Top 100 Hospitals, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded the hospital a four-star rating.

IBM Watson Health identified the top hospitals from a rigorous evaluation of 2,675 short-term, acute care, non-federal hospitals in the U.S. Olathe Medical Center was one of the top 20 large community hospitals in the country. The list recognizes excellence in clinical outcome, operational efficiency, patient experience, financial health, and contributions to community health.

Olathe Medical Center, along with Olathe Health’s Miami County Medical Center, also received a four-star rating from the CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. The overall star rating is based on how well a hospital performs across different areas of quality, such as treating heart attacks and pneumonia, readmission rates, and safety of care.

“Our motto at Olathe Health is ‘While reaching for perfection, we will achieve excellence,’” Stan Holm, President/CEO of Olathe Health said. “I’m so proud of our medical staff and other caregivers for always striving to deliver the highest quality of care and continually finding ways to improve upon our processes and patient care practices.”

Olathe Health attributes the high-ranking quality measures to its safety-first culture. The safety-first mentality focuses on eliminating all preventable harm, creating a just culture where reporting potential incidents is encouraged and supported, and making the organization a healing environment for patients, providers and associates.
