Speech-Language Pathology

Speech-Language Pathologists provide evaluation and treatment services to those with speech, language, voice, cognitive and swallowing disorders.  Specialized testing and treatment are provided based upon each patient's needs.  VitalStim is a treatment that can be used to assist patients with difficulty swallowing.  The Visi-Pitch equipment provides visual and auditory feedback to those with voice disorders.

Common conditions that may require speech language pathology are:

  • Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
  • Memory impairments
  • Decreased cognition
  • Aphasia
  • Voice problems
  • Neurologic diseases
  • Stroke and head injuries

Specific diagnostic services include videofluoroscopic swallowing studies, instrumental analysis of vocal function and standardized cognitive/achievement testing may also be completed.
