This class is for the expectant woman and her support person to receive information about what to expect through each step of the childbirth process.

We emphasize a family-centered approach to birth options, partner coaching, and informed choices.

This class is good to take regardless of whether or not you plan to have epidural medication during labor. You will practice how to cope with common discomforts of pregnancy and labor through positioning, massage, breathing techniques, visualization, total body relaxation, and various medications are explained and practiced so you can determine which techniques work best for you. Learn how to differentiate true from false labor, what to do if your “water” breaks, warning signs that require a call to your physician, and reasons why internal fetal monitoring, induction of labor, instrumentation or cesarean birth may be necessary. The Infant Care class is included in this series as well as information on postpartum care, newborn safety, and a tour of The Birth Place.
