Colonoscopy Screenings Can Save Lives

Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer, is the second leading cancer killer in the U.S. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that as many as 60 percent of colorectal cancer deaths could be prevented if everyone 50 years or older were screened routinely. Screening tests, like a colonoscopy, can find and remove precancerous growths in the colon before they turn into cancer, and diagnose colon cancer early when treatment is most successful.

Schedule Your Colonoscopy Screening Today

At Olathe Medical Center and Miami County Medical Center, colonoscopies are performed as outpatient procedures by a gastroenterology specialist or general surgeon. The procedure itself takes 30 minutes on average, and most patients are able to return home that same day and resume normal activity the following day.
