The Birth Place at Olathe Medical Center (OMC) was recently named the winner of the 2012 National Women's Health Unit of the Year contest by Cerner. The Birth Place team received this honor as a result of its excellent staff, the amenities available to patients on the unit and a number of recent awards earned by the unit and individual staff members.
"This honor truly says a lot about our unit and the staff to be selected on a national platform. It shows what a great team we have in The Birth Place at Olathe Medical Center," Susan Nigro, Director of The Birth Place, said. "The Birth Place was created around the philosophy that childbirth should be the experience of a lifetime."
The Birth Place combines OMC's signature medical technology with a lot of special amenities and little touches to make the birthing experience a positive one for the entire family. Each labor and delivery suite features a whirlpool tub, queen-sized Murphy bed, in-room crib and entertainment center.
