Olathe Health System, Inc. (OHSI) was recently awarded the Action Registry – GWTG (Get With the Guidelines) Gold Performance Achievement Award. This registry, a partnership between the American College of Cardiology Foundation and American Heart Association, recognizes hospitals and health systems that monitor outcomes and improve care given to heart attack patients. The award recognizes such groups that have maintained a performance rate of 85 percent or higher for 24 consecutive months.
“This award shows the commitment of OHSI to provide high quality cardiac care,” Brian Friedman, MD, FACC, interventional cardiologist at Cardiology Services, said. “We submit data on various aspects of our care. This is truly a team effort.”
In addition, Kansas Heart and Lung Surgeons was recently selected among the top three heart surgery groups in the state of Kansas in the September issue of Consumer Reports. The list, which was compiled by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, was based on overall performance and quality clinical data ranging from July 1, 2009, through July 30, 2010.
Among the three Kansas hospitals honored in the publication, Olathe Medical Center (OMC) was the only one from the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
